Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today made a “Special Gift of Gratitude” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he presented saffron flowers to him.

This is for the first time that such a gift has been made to the Prime Minister as saffron is going on in Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir have had record production of Saffron this year and on top of it, the GI tagging of saffron has given unprecedented economic benefits to saffron farmers.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has set up the India International Kashmir Saffron Trading center at Pampore in record time to facilitate saffron production. Here in this the saffron is separated from the flower in the shortest possible time and reaches the market with a GI tag. This tag is not only guarantees purity but also stands out in competition with other saffron in the market which is much less in quality than Iranian Saffron.
