Jammu, July 15: Several job aspirants applying for the Naib Tehsildar posts advertised by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) have raised serious concerns after their application fees were deducted but the forms were not generated.

According to JKSSB rules, applicants must pay a fee of ₹600 for OM and ₹500 for SC, ST-1,ST-2, EWS and PwBD category and through digital payment methods to complete the online application. However, many aspirants claimed that even after the payment was deducted from their bank accounts, they did not receive confirmation or an application form.

“We are extremely stressed. The deadline to apply was July 15, but our applications are still not submitted even though the payment has been made,” said an aspirant. So far, JKSSB has not issued any clarification on the issue, leaving candidates anxious and uncertain about their application status.

Meanwhile, the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has also stayed the government’s order which made Urdu language mandatory for the Naib Tehsildar post. The tribunal directed JKSSB to accept applications from candidates who have a graduate degree and knowledge of any of the five official languages of J&K — Hindi, English, Kashmiri, Dogri, or Urdu.

The order came after senior lawyers Abhinav Sharma and Abhirash Sharma challenged the Urdu requirement, calling it discriminatory and against the Constitution.

Following the verdict, the CAT issued notices to the respondents and asked them to file their responses within four weeks. The next hearing is scheduled for August 13.

The BJP welcomed the CAT decision, with party members earlier protesting outside the Civil Secretariat and Assembly demanding the removal of the Urdu language condition.

With confusion over fee payments and legal hurdles surrounding the eligibility criteria, the recruitment process for the Naib Tehsildar post remains uncertain, leaving aspirants in limbo.
