Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday cautioned Congress that the Government of India will not be a “ silent spectator” to its assault on the judiciary , especially when the Opposition Party has made it a habit to attack judiciary and judges since Emergency of 1975 and even prior to that.
The law minister was speaking to reporters at a function marking release of Indian constitution in Dogri . The event was organized by the Jammu University . This is for the first time that the Indian Constitution’s Dogri translation has been undertaken .
Rijiju hailed the transformation that has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir, during the Modi rule at the Centre. Now Jammu and Kashmir , particularly , the Valley , have been mainstreamed and now they are witnessing the positive changes that this place had not imagined .
Replying to questions of reporters , the minister said that even before the Emergency was imposed in 1975, the Congress party used to attack and assault the judicial system , and so what they are doing now after Surat, Gujarat, Court’s verdict on Rahul Gandhi , is keeping in with the ugly traditions of the party. He said that, they should bear in mind that the Government won’t be sitting as a silent spectator to the attacks on the judiciary by Congress leaders .
Without commenting on the recent statement of NCP leader Sharad Pawar who has parted ways with Congress on joint parliamentary committee probe into Adani issues, following Hindenburg report against Gautam Adani , one of the richest businessmen in the world, Rijiju said that the whole issue is being highlighted only to brighten the political career of Rahul Gandhi, who has otherwise failed politically.
He urged the judiciary in Jammu and Kashmir to strike a balance in its approach, as a guardian of the freedom of citizens and at the same time guarding the national interest. It is important in Jammu and Kashmir, which is on path of integration .
