21 November 2025, Jammu: The Department of Journalism and Media Studies, University of Jammu, organised an insightful guest lecture on the topic “The Future of Indian Media: Emerging Trends and Technologies”. Here today the session featured Neha Pushkarna, Former Metro Editor, Hindustan Times, New Delhi, as the resource person.
The programme was held under the guidance of HoD Prof. Garima Gupta and Prof. Dushyant Kumar Rai. The event saw an active participation of faculty members .
The session began with a warm welcome address by Prof. Dushyant Kumar Rai. He appreciated Neha Pushkarna’s willingness to share her rich experience of over two decades in the field of journalism with the media students.
Delivering the lecture, Neha Pushkarna captivated the audience by discussing the evolving landscape of Indian media, relevance of print alongside digital platforms, and the transformative impact of emerging technologies. She laid special emphasis on timeless journalistic skills strong writing, unwavering passion, neutrality, fact-verification, and ethical storytelling that remain crucial irrespective of the medium. She also guided students on adapting to new tools and trends while preserving the core values of the profession.
The lecture was followed by an engaging interactive session where students enthusiastically raised questions on the challenges and opportunities in digital journalism, the future of newsrooms, and the role of artificial intelligence and social media in shaping public discourse.
The session received an overwhelmingly positive response from the students, who described it as both inspiring and practically enriching. Students noted that the real-world insights shared by the resource person helped in bridging theoretical learning with industry realities and motivated them to hone their skills with greater purpose and responsibility.
