Srinagar, September 20:
One soldier was shot dead by militants in northwestern town of Kupwara in Kashmir on Monday evening.
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson of the defence ministry in Srinagar said that shots were fired at soldiers, in which one soldier was injured but by the time he was taken to hospital, he had succumbed to his bullet wounds.
