Banihal, March 25: In a continued effort to upgrade civic infrastructure and improve living conditions for the people, MLA Banihal, Mr. Sajjad Shaheen, today kickstarted the construction of tile work and drainage system in Municipal Committee (MC) Banihal, being executed at an estimated cost of ₹43 lakh.
The project aims to enhance sanitation, ensure proper drainage, and provide better pedestrian pathways within the town, addressing long-pending demands of the local population.
Executive Engineer PWD Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Banihal Mr. Eshan Gupta, engineers from PWD and MC Banihal, besides prominent locals, were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA reiterated his commitment to holistic development of Banihal town and emphasized that improving basic infrastructure remains a top priority. He directed the concerned departments to ensure quality work and timely completion of the work.
Highlighting the developmental initiatives undertaken over the past year, the MLA stated that several key projects have been initiated and executed across the constituency. These include upgradation of roads, strengthening of drainage networks, augmentation of drinking water facilities, and improvements in healthcare and educational infrastructure. He further added that special focus has been laid on urban infrastructure in Banihal town, including works related to sanitation, street connectivity, and public amenities.
Mr. Shaheen also mentioned that efforts are underway to secure additional funds for completion of the Municipal Shopping Complex (gutted building) and other pending developmental works, ensuring that public assets are restored and utilized effectively.
The locals appreciated the proactive approach of the MLA and expressed hope that such initiatives will significantly improve the overall civic scenario in Banihal.
The MLA assured the public that more developmental projects are in the pipeline and reiterated his resolve to work tirelessly for the progress and welfare of the people of Banihal constituency.
