Ultimately, it is going to be Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy that will ease tensions in the Middle East which have escalated all-time high with the US bombing of three key nuclear facilities of Iran on Saturday-Sunday night. At the moment, Middle East is at a cusp of changing the world order as the tensions are threatening to escalate into something deeply ominous for the world. The tremors are being felt beyond the geographical boundaries of the region.

As if the Israel-Iran war was not sufficient to disturb peace and stability of the volatile region, the US intervention has made the matters worse. It will not be easy to extricate from the dangerously complex situation as the US has not only claimed that after obliterating the nuclear facilities of Iran, but also started pitching for regime change in the country.

Prime Minister Modi, who phoned and later received a phone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday, and counselled dialogue and diplomacy, laid the final way out of the crisis that has left the world wondering what will happen next .The whole region is clouded with the smoke of the missiles, drones and bombs and much worse, with the thickening clouds of uncertainty. There are geopolitical uncertainties combined with the measures that the US, Israel and Iran may take.

India, because of its immense standing as the fourth-largest economy and the most populous country in the world, is also having the credentials of its centuries-old moral background as a nation of peace that treats the whole world as one family – “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”. As part of the global family, India is concerned over what is happening to fellow family members in Middle-East. It is not the time to take sides but to ensure rapprochement

During his telephonic conversation with the Iranian president on Sunday, Prime Minister expressed his deep concern over the recent escalations in the region. he discussed in detail about “ the current situation”, and expressed “ deep concern “at the recent escalations, while reiterating call for immediate de-escalation is imperative for ensuring regional peace , security and stability.”

This reaffirms India’s commitment to global peace. India, under PM Modi’s watch, has demonstrated it time and again. It applied diplomatic tools at the military and other levels to ease border standoff with China. After the unfortunate clashes at Galwan Valley on June 15 and 16, 2020, not a single clash tok place because of the pressure and persuasion through dialogue and diplomacy. And when Pakistan requested for ceasefire, India agreed as it never wanted escalation in the South Asian region.

On Sunday, when Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called PM Modi, he briefed the Indian leader in detail and shared his perspective on the current situation in the region especially the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

PM expressed India’s deep concern at the recent escalations. PM conveyed that India was on the side of peace and humanity. In this context, PM emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward.
