Deputation met Deputy Commissioner Jammu

Apni Party Women’s Wing Provincial President, Namrta Sharma on Thursday expressed grave concern over the administration’s indifference in building protection walls at Model Town, Gangyal, where flash floods had wreaked havoc and destroyed the property of the residents.

Under the leadership of Namrta Sharma, a deputation of Apni Party Women’s Wing activists Pavneet Kour, Sarabjeet and Seema along with Model Town residents comprised of Sarita, Gurmeet Kour, Aneeta among others met with Deputy Commissioner Jammu and addressed various issues concerning the locality in depth.

In a statement issued here, Namrta said that flash floods occur often in the Model Town area, and the administration has consistently ignored their legitimate demands, causing the inhabitants to suffer.

“It is the administration’s responsibility to take adequate measures to protect residents’ property from the flash floods, which have occurred frequently in overflowing brook at Gangyal”, she added.

According to Namrta, Deputy Commissioner listened patiently and assured the delegation that their concerns would be addressed within a reasonable amount of time.

She further stated that the Deputy Commissioner summoned all relevant authorities and stressed the importance of constructing protective barriers.
