‘Says NC’s promises of ‘Plebiscite’, ‘Autonomy’, and ‘Restoration of Article 370’ have proven hollow and misleading; now, the proposed sit-in protest for statehood in Delhi is another gimmick to befool the people’

Srinagar, June 17: Taking a dig at the ruling NC for its misleading slogans and false promises to the people, Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday said, “NC’s leadership has never been serious about the genuine issues of the people of Jammu and Kashmir; rather, it has always misled and deceived them through false promises and misleading slogans.”
He made these remarks today while addressing a party event at the party headquarters in Srinagar. The event was organised to welcome a large number of social and political activists from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, prominent party leaders who were present warmly welcomed the new members into the party fold.
Addressing the occasion, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari criticised the ruling NC over its misleading slogans and false promises to the people.
He said, “The proposed sit-in protest in Delhi by the ruling NC for the restoration of statehood is nothing but a political gimmick aimed at misleading and befooling the people, and creating a false impression of commitment to the cause.”
He added, “The fact, is that NC leadership has never been serious about the real issues of Jammu and Kashmir, and history stands witness to this fact. At one point, this leadership promised the people that they would ensure “Raishumari (Plebiscite)” here, but eventually that promise proved to be false. Later, they claimed that they would restore “Autonomy,” for J&K but that too turned out to be a misleading promise.”
He went on to say, “Following the events of August 5, 2019, this party and its leadership misled the people by claiming that it would bring back the abrogated Article 370. Once again, it proved to be a blatant lie aimed at misleading the public for political and electoral gains.”
Questioning the seriousness of NC’s proposed sit-in protest in Delhi, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari termed it yet another gimmick to befool people.
He said, “Now, the NC leadership is befooling people in the name of statehood. They claim that by organizing a sit-in protest in Delhi, they will ensure the restoration of statehood. The fact is that they are not serious about this demand.”
Recalling the Apni Party’s initial proposal that all political parties should unite and pursue the cause of statehood in New Delhi, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said “Had they been serious, they would have responded positively to the Apni Party’s suggestion for a united effort on this issue. Apni Party was the first to propose that all political parties come together to pursue the demand for statehood before New Delhi. However, at that time, NC maintained that statehood was not an issue, claiming that it would be restored by New Delhi anyway.”
“Their proposed sit-in protest is merely a hollow initiative rather than a serious effort to secure the restoration of statehood,” he added.
The prominent political and social leaders from Bandipora who, along with their associates, joined the Apni Party during the event included Naseer Ahmad Mir, Abdul Rasheed Ashna, and Basharat Hussain Najar.
Besides Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari the senior party leaders who were present on this occasion included party’s senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Javaid Mustafa Mir, Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, District President Bandipora Shafat Kazmi, Senior Leader and Constituency In-charge Sonawari Imtiyaz Padday, Provincial Secretary Irshad Ahmad Wani, Vice President Bandipora Abdul Rahim Bhat, Ex Block Chairman Ghulam Nabi Ganai, Block President Abdul Qayoon Dar, Block President Bashir Ahmad Wani, Block President Muzaffar Ahmad Ganai, and others.
