Corona has become a byword for the destruction . It is unsparing and cruel in infecting and killing people , and it is most lethal when it comes to elderly and young children in societies hiding from its fear in their homes. The Modi government  is fighting it with the valour and the most remarkable thing is that it has kept the light of education on in the homes even in the tines that are described  in darkest terms.

In these times, it is very difficult, to resume the class work in schools . There are several new needs of the children, new masks, social distancing  and sanitized desk and sitting places other than classrooms. It is also risky to send them to the play ground where crowding cannot be ruled out.

The students, however, are happy that they are not missing their crucial studies as Doordarshan under the directions  of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and  Ministry of Human Resources have devoted its channels to the education dissemination to the children confined to their homes as a precaution to save themselves from the deadly disease that seems to be roaming fearlessly and freely . It may not be community spread, but it  deters community gatherings. Schools are also community gathering institutions.

Priti  Gupta , a 9th standard student of government school in Shastri Nagar, Jammu ,  is happy that her studies have not been interrupted. “All I have to do is to sit  in front of Doordarshan channel at appointed hours and take lessons. That has compensated all my losses that I had  feared would be incurred by me  in the absence of regular classes ,”she told JK News Today .

She hailed the kind  and quality of the lessons in which everything was explained so well  that she is not missing much except for the very  feeling of being in schools. “A good thing is that since all my friends are glued to Doordarshan’channels taking lessons and delivering real-time education, we often exchange notes.”

The children are happy. There is undisturbed continuity in their   education. The home work is  being done as diligently as they used to do in pre-corona ties.  Their attention span and  understanding has enhanced as they know that they cannot afford to  lose a sentence  in the lessons coming to them from the  TV  channels  launched by Doordarshan.  “I am also happy that my memory  has gone several notches up . The notes are taken swiftly and on revision , I find that I have not missed much,” said Geeta Sharma , a student of a private school . She had no habit of watching Doordarshan  earlier . My source of entertainment and information were some private channels. “Now, I find that the way Doordarshan has handled the things and offered us real-time education and made us comprehend our subjects  so easily, I find it the best.” For her, the other channels are nothing more than  commercial  outlets .

The Modi government’s this initiative  of devoting Doordarshan channels like-E-Pathshala,  Swayam, Diksha, and Swayam Prabha  Shagun online junction has not left even a child behind in education.
