Doda, December 28:
The oath ceremony of district development council members all over Jammu Kashmir was held and DC Doda also administered oath to the members.
But the administration was not kind enough to offer a glass of water to the members and people present on the occasion.
Forget lunch or tea, these members, who had come from far off areas of the district like Changa, Bhalessa, Kahra, Bhaderwah and other areas, were not even asked for a glass of water.
This has irked many present on the occasion and said that administration should have shown some courtesy to people in general and members in particular.
After the ceremony ended, members were looking for tea stalls and restaurants in Doda town to have a cup of tea.
DDC members were irked over this treatment from district administration.
“These elections were held after much hype by the government and when it came to end the process by administering oath to elected members, it was disgraceful, unceremonious and unprecedented on the part of administration by not offering even a cup of tea,” said Syed Asim Hashmi, DDC members from Gundna constituency, who has won by defeating BJP JK unit vice president Shakti Parihar.
Another DDC member from Kahra, Mehraj Malik said that at other places district administration had given much respect to elected members. “But here in Doda the oath ceremony was just a formality and nothing was offered. The administration should have taken the opportunity to tell members as what are their powers and what should they do in future,” Malik said.
When asked DC Doda, Sagar D. Doifode why nothing was offered to these members, he didn’t respond.
