Jammu, October 28:
Four policemen were killed and scores others injured in Punjab province of Pakistan on Wednesday as ultra-Islamist Tehreek-e-Labbaik ,Pakistan marchers clashed with the police while marching to Pakistani capital Islamabad from Lahore , forcing the government to declare TLP as militant group and called in Rangers to assist in maintenance of law and order in Punjab.
The clashes and the flip-flop of the Pakistani government have clearly demonstrated that the things in Pakistan were traversing on a treacherous terrain . The marchers were encouraged , to do what they did, by the ever-changing approach of the government. First, it appeared to be acting tough, and then conceded their demands before backtracking . What Pakistan has not understood so far, and it all due to its own follies , that terrorist is a terrorist, no matter what ideology they claim to be pursuing .Therefore, Pakistan is paying price for its own acts of omission and commission.
The TLP is asking for the closure of French embassy in Pakistan for the alleged blasphemous remarks by the French President last year . The group has drawn its encouragement from Prime Minister Imran Khan who had endorsed the group’s version on France , without realising the political and diplomatic fallout of his statements.
This time the TLP march which is resulting in extreme clashes with the police , has come at a time when the Imran Khan government has declared amnesty for another terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban, Pakistan or TTP, responsible for several killings, including that of the school children of Peshawar Army Public School in December 2014 . That incident had rattled the whole world as the brutality of shooting school children numbed all the civilized societies.
Pakistan is witnessing these type of violent incidents and marches because of its own patronage to the religious extremism . Pakistan has been pursuing policies of religious extremism in its game of one-upmanship in the Muslim world . Its competition on this turf is also born out of its mindset to grow more terrorism based on the religious extremism , without realising that its consequences could haunt it.
To the world , Pakistan is now known as a failing state that is working for the terrorist groups, and this has become more than obvious now the way Pakistan helped Taliban in Afghanistan to take over the country . This role of Pakistan in wrecking Afghanistan and handing it over to the Taliban has been censured by many countries, including the United States .
But, with its internal problems growing , it could land in a dangerous zone , much more perishable than it is today. It is not courting disaster , it is turning out to be a disaster itself.
