Jammu, 02 August 2026: With the objective of providing passengers safe, smooth, and rule-based travel facilities along with ensuring the security of railway revenue, Northern Railway, Jammu Division conducted an intensive ticket checking drive across the entire division during the month of July 2026. The main objective of this drive was to effectively curb ticketless travel, travel in a higher class without proper ticket, carrying unbooked luggage, and other violations of railway rules. Under the guidance of *Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, the ticket checking staff conducted surprise and regular checks in all Mail, Express, and Passenger trains as well as at major stations of the division.
The results of this special drive conducted in July 2026 were extremely positive. The ticket checking staff of Jammu Division demonstrated their alertness, presence of mind, and dedication by registering a total of 10,014 cases of ticketless and irregular travel during the month of July. Against these cases, fines were collected as per rules and a revenue of ₹77,97,430 was earned.
This figure not only reflects a significant increase in the division’s revenue, but also proves how serious Jammu Division is about violations of railway rules. The drive also benefited passengers traveling with valid tickets as the rush in reserved coaches reduced and availability of seats was ensured.
Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu appreciated the commendable work of the ticket checking staff and said, “The objective of Jammu Division is not only to increase revenue, but also to create awareness among passengers and encourage them to travel as per rules. This achievement has been possible only due to the hard work and dedication of our ticket checking staff. Jammu Division will continue to conduct such intensive checking drives in the future as well for the convenience of passengers and for the safety of railway property.”
