Shah Faesal has taken upon himself to take on Pakistan by placing it in contrast to the Indian democracy where all communities and castes are given equal opportunities while referring to the rise of Rishi Sunak, a Hindu of Indian origin , becoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Faesal, IAS of 2010 , in a series of tweets has referred to the origins and elevation of Rishi Sunak, who grandparents belonged to Gujjaranwala, Punjab, in the undivided India before Partition . He said that “it might have come as a surprise for our neighbours ( Pakistan) , where the Constitution bars non-Muslims from top posts in the Government , but Indian democracy has never discriminated ethnic and religious minorities from the rest.”
In his tweets , Shah Faesal , whose own career in the civil services to his courtship with politics bordering on separatism and the subsequent return to the services, said”: “ It’s possible only in India that a Muslim youngster from Kashmir can go on to top the Indian Civil Service Exam , rise to top echelons of the government, then fall apart with the government and still be rescued and taken back by the same government “
On Rishi Sunak ‘s appointment, Faesal observed that ,”( it) might be a surprise for our neighbours where the Constitution bars non-Muslim s from top posts in the Government , but indian democracy has never discriminated ethnic and religious minorities from the rest. As equal citizens , Indian Muslims enjoy freedoms that are unthinkable in any other so called Islamic country “.
Then he went on to recall his own story.” My own life-story is about a journey , shoulder to shoulder , with each fellow citizen of this nation of 1.3 billion people, where I have felt owned, respected , encouraged and at times pampered at every step of the way. That’s India .”
Faesal also recalled that how India has treated its minorities and propelled them to the top most positions in the country. “ From Maulana Azad to Dr. Manmohan Singh and Dr. Zakir Hussain to H.E. President Droupadi Murmu, India has always been The land of equal opportunity and the road to top is open to all . Won’t be wrong if I say I have been to the mountain top and seen it for myself.”
