With an aim to train Police personnel who are first responder in any emergency situation, today Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Sh Shailender Singh launched Seven days workshop on Basic Life Support (BLS) in district police lines Reasi.

The training program was organized as part of disasters management preparedness by building capacities of Police personnel who are the first responder in any emergent situation by providing basic knowledge about first aid and other basic life support by way of applying different techniques including CPR in emergency situation.

As many as 105 Police personnel of district including police stations, police posts and voluntary home guards attended the program in district police lines Reasi.

Training program was imparted by team of medical officers headed by Dr Yousaf Khan Dy CMO Reasi, main recourse person of the event was Dr Rakesh Anand Anesthetist who accentuated the need and importantance of Basic life Support. He alongwith BMO Reasi Dr Mohd Saleem explained that BLS is a level of pre hospital care which is used to save the life of injured and victims of disasters until they are given full medical care at medical centers. Dr Rakesh further explained and demonstrated various techniques used to save the life of victims. Policemen were actively involved in the workshop. Brainstorming Questions-Answers sessions made it a learning experience.

Dy CMO Reasi Dr Yousaf Khan also highligtened the role of BLS in one life and appreciate the efforts of SSP Reasi in organizing such type of programs which can save one’s life in emergent situation.

Shailender Singh enlightened the role of BLS in daily life and engrossed for inculcation of different terminologies, which are must to save one’s life.

SSP further explained the requirement of BLS in encounters where our injured jawans lost their lives due to excessive bleeding, saving the life of people in disasters, drowning, house colapse, case of unconsciousness while performing duties, cases of cardiac arrest and accident cases. Further requested the doctors to involve the police personnel completely in the training programme so that they should learn all the skills of Basic life support seriously and can save one’s life when required.

Mr Singh explained that in this week’s long workshop around 2000 police personnel of Reasi Police will learn basic techniques which are required to save the life in emergency situations and such program will be organized each and every part of district Reasi including far flung areas of Mahore and Chassana.
