Jammu, Feb 17: In a major breakthrough, STF Ambala and STF Haryana have arrested two Pakistani nationals who had escaped from a Juvenile Home in the R.S. Pura area of Jammu and Kashmir.
The accused, Mohammad Sunaullah and Ahsan Anwar, escaped from the R.S. Pura Juvenile Home on February 16 at around 5:15 PM. Before escaping, they allegedly attacked two on-duty police personnel, who were later admitted to Government Medical College Jammu. Their condition is reported to be stable.
According to police, three inmates had escaped — two Pakistani nationals and one Indian national identified as Karamjit Singh alias Gugga. The third accused is still absconding, and search operations are ongoing.
STF Haryana arrested the two Pakistani nationals from the railway station premises in Ambala and later handed them over to Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Police have registered an FIR under serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including attempt to murder, assault on a public servant, and escaping from lawful custody. A case under the Arms Act has also been filed. Authorities are also investigating how a country-made pistol reached the inmates.
Following the incident , six JKP police personnel, including one Assistant Sub-Inspector, have been suspended for alleged negligence. A departmental inquiry has been initiated.
Senior officers, including the DGP and IG Jammu Zone, visited the spot and reviewed the situation.
Meanwhile, special teams are conducting raids to arrest the third accused.
