Jammu, May 08: The Unite States has told both India and Pakistan to de-escalate the situation as the tensions between two countries went several notches on the second day of Operation Sindoor, under which Indian armed forces targeted the terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir on Wednesday in response to the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.

The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce , spoke to the Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday and urged both leaders to de-escalate and hold direct talks to ease the situation .

Secretary Marco Rubio spoke today with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The Secretary emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation. He expressed U.S. support for direct dialogue between India and Pakistan and encouraged continued efforts to improve communications.

The Secretary reiterated his condolences for the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism.
