US has reiterated that it recognizes India as a leader in South Asia and the Indian Ocean , this was stated by White House on Monday at the regular press briefing in which India was also hailed as a driving force of the Quad, foreign ministers of which recently met in Melbourne Australia where China came in for sharp criticism for disrupting the rule-based order in the world .
This highly pro-India statement was made by Principal Deputy Press Secretary Karine Jean -Pierre of the White House in reply to a question that how President Joe Biden expected India to play in the Quad? The principal deputy press secretary said :” We recognize that India is a likeminded partner and leader in South Asia and the Indian Ocean, active in and connected to the Southeast Asia, a driving force of the Quad, and an engine for regional growth and development !”
She also maintained that , “ We will continue to build a strategic partnership in which the United States and India work together to promote stability in South Asia; collaborate in new domains such as health, space, cyberspace — which is important; deepen our economic and technology cooperation; and contribute to a free and open Indo-Pacific. “
