According to TMC sources, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s name does not feature in the list of speakers for the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is likely to skip the virtual meeting with PM Modi tomorrow after her name was put on the list of speakers, sources have revealed.
According to TMC sources, Mamata Banerjee’s name does not feature in the list of speakers for the meeting tomorrow.
The second round of video conferences on the coronavirus situation scheduled for Wednesday, June 17 at 3 pm will have representations from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar and Telangana respectively.
Terming it as an “insult for the people of West Bengal”, the TMC had already hit out at the Modi government accusing the centre of trying to silence Mamata Banerjee’s voice.
Bengal education minister Partha Chatterjee tweeted, “The Centre has once again humiliated the people of Bengal and decided to silence Mamata Banerjee. The consultation in the name of video conferences is a mere hogwash if the Chief Ministers aren’t allowed to put forth their concerns.”
“The Centre should explain why is it so averse to the people of Bengal’s concerns, as we face this unprecedented crisis which should’ve been fought together. Why would you call our hon’ble CM for a VC, if you fear her so much that you can’t even let her speak?” questioned TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar.
Senior TMC leader and former Union rail minister Dinesh Trivedi said, “The Government of India was worried that Mamata Banerjee will expose the Modi regime’s failure on the Covid-19 front.”
“It seems the Centre’s so worried about exposing itself to Mamata Banerjee’s constructive criticism on Covid-19 response that our hon’ble CM’s been reduced to just a mute spectator for the latest round of VCs with the PM. People of Bengal won’t forgive this!” Trivedi tweeted.
