Doda , February 03 : At least 19 houses in Thathri in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir , have developed wide cracks endangering the buildings. The administration has evacuated the inmates and shifted them to a nearby school, while few others have moved to the places of their relatives.
This is a serious situation , and many are drawing parallels between the situation in Joshimath, Uttarakhand, where several buildings had sunk and become dangerous for living .
Sources told JK News Today that for the past few days, they had witnessed this dangerous trend in the houses in Nai Basti of Thathri tehsil in Doda district . Besides houses , a mosque and madrassa buildings too have developed dangerously wide cracks .
Against the backdrop of severe grave situation , all the inmates have been evacuated and shifted to a nearby school building . The administration , sources said, has made all arrangements to make them comfortable in this season of winter.
A team of the geological survey of India has reached Doda. The team will start its wok on Saturday and determine the cause of the cracks and sinking landscape .
