Udhampur, January 15:

Udhampur ( Northern Command Headquarters)
The Indian army eliminated 221 terrorists in 2020 as compared to 152 in the year 2019 and with the declining number of terrorists, a clear supremacy has been established over the forces of terrorism in J&K.

These figures of achievements in J&K, one of the most challenging theatres for the Indian army, were released at a media interaction of Northern Command chief Lt. Gen. Y K Joshi on Friday morning – coinciding with the celebration of the Army day today. The Army celebrates January 15 as army day Gen. Joshi who has served in different capacities in the region said that the army is achieving success after success in its fight against terrorism , thus providing relief to the people who have been living life of stress and strains because of Pakistan sponsored terrorism
The army also apprehended 47 terrorists as against 43 in 2019 , and there were 11 who surrendered as against three the previous year.

There also was substantial decline in the infiltration . In 2019, the recorded number was 141 , while in 2020, it came down to just 32 . this is because of the high vigil of the army at the Line of control and also the way terrorists who attempted to infiltrate were neutralized.

The assessed terrorist strength too has come down from 421 in 2019, to 274 in 2020.
As per the army estimated, the number of terrorists at the launch pads has come down considerably because of the vigil of the Indian army that has scared the terrorists . Against the estimated figure of 520 to 556 in 2019, the number at these pads has come down to 294-336.

Frustrated by its failure to cause trouble in the Valley because of the intensified anti-terrorism operations in the Valley, Pakistan has enhanced its number of ceasefire violations at the LoC. It was 3824 in 2019 but in 2020 these increased to 5246.
