Srinagar, November 6: In a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services across Jammu and Kashmir, the Government has issued posting orders for 306 newly appointed Medical Officers (Allopathic) across various health institutions in the Union Territory.

As per Government Order No. 762-JK(HME) of 2026, dated November 6, the postings have been ordered with immediate effect.

The move reflects the commitment of the Omar Abdullah-led Government, under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Jenab Omar Abdullah and the guidance of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Health & Medical Education and Social Welfare, Miss Sakina Itoo, towards addressing staff shortages and improving healthcare facilities, particularly in far-flung and underserved areas.

Out of 335 appointed candidates, 306 submitted their joining reports within the stipulated period, while 29 failed to fulfil the prescribed joining requirements.

The newly appointed doctors have been deployed across PHCs, NTPHCs, CHCs, SDHs and other healthcare institutions, strengthening medical services at the grassroots level.

The initiative highlights Minister Sakina Itoo’s continued focus on improving healthcare delivery and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services across J&K.
