Jammu, September 19:

The Indian army is planning to deploy nearly 4,000 additional troops along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir to plug in all the infiltration routes more effectively against the backdrop of increased attempts by Pakistan to push in infiltrators to cause more troubles in the Valley.

This move has come following a thorough review of the security situation by Chief of Army Staff Gen. M M Naravane in Kashmir during his two-day-visit of the LoC that concluded on Friday, the sources said.

Sources said that the infiltration bids are being facilitated by Pakistan army with increased intensity from across the LoC . This is owing to the two major factors – Pakistan is desperate to disturb peace in Jammu and Kashmir and at the same time by regularly firing at the LoC, it is seeking to keep Indian army engaged in the gun fights . This also serves its purpose of providing fire cover to the infiltration

The security review spotlighted on increased activity on Pakistani side and the response that it demanded . It was decided to strengthen the counter-infiltration grid along the LoC to keep it free of infiltration . The sources said that the army wants to ensure zero infiltration.
