New Delhi, October 07:

On Tuesday, India saw a major dip in its daily Covid-19 tally as 61,267 cases were recorded in the 24 hours. But on Wednesday, the number climbed again as 72,049 Covid-19 cases were registered which pushed the tally to over 6.75 million. The total cases include 907,883 active cases, nearly 5.75 million recoveries and 104,555 deaths.

Maharashtra and Karnataka continue to be worst-hit from the pandemic as they have contributed maximum cases towards the country’s daily caseload. Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally is over 1.46 million which includes nearly 38,717 deaths and over 1.17 million recoveries.

Meanwhile Delhi government data showed that Covid-19 testing in the national capital has dropped again. As the drop in testing coincides with a drop in Covid-19 cases, experts said that the government should be conducting as many tests as possible. They further questioned the state government’s strategy of depending heavily on rapid antigen tests to increase testing figures rather than the RT-PCR tests.

United States President Donald Trump, who returned to the White House on Monday evening reported no symptoms of Covid-19, his physician said. The President instructed aides to stop talks on Covid-19 until after the Presidential Election which will take place in November.
