Chandigarh, 14 April, 2023: Chandigarh Police in association with UT Cricket Association (UTCA) is being organizing “Gully Cricket Tournament 2023” from 06th April to 23rd April 2023”. In this tournament, total 202 teams are competing with participation of around 2800 young talents of the city between the age group of 14 to 18 years. The tournament aims at encouraging youth to keep away from drugs and criminal activities.
Today, the matches of the tournament were played at ground of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 32, Chandigarh where about 55-60 Urja children/youths have joined to witness the matches as well as attended a sensitization programme on drug abuse. All the participants and attendees have taken a pledge to stay away from drugs on this occasion.
In order to promote the positive and healthy lifestyle a lecture on drug
abuse was also delivered by Sh. Ram Gopal, DSP, Chandigarh Police and
Sh. Sanjay Tondon, President of UT Cricket Association. A ‘Nasha Mukti
Express’ bus under campaign ‘Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan’ of Chandigarh
Administration arrived at the venue which showcased a video/short clip
showing the bad effects of drugs and their rehabilitation to the participants.
The members of the other UT Cricket Association were also present there.
The goal of this programme was to mobilize support and inspire students
to act against drug abuse.
