Jammu, April 25 Pakistan army chief Gen. Asim Munir landed in Beijing on Monday to kick off his four-day visit of China, during which he is expected to discuss strengthening of the defence relationship between the two countries, and also ask for the financial help enabling Pakistan to come out of the severe economic distress.
The announcement of his visit to China was made by the Inter-Services Public Relations in a statement yesterday evening . It said that the Chief of Army Staff is on a four-day official visit to China for enhancing bilateral military relations..” The statement provided no further details .
It is not uncommon for the army chiefs of Pakistan to visit China. They have been visiting China quite frequently , discussing their military ties, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor , but this particular visit at a time when Pakistan is in dire straits and the country is beset with the talks of military take over.”
This makes this visit important in geo-strategic calculus.
