Health department organises health camps

Doda, May 9: In pursuance of the directions from Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Animal Husbandry Department Doda under the supervision of Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Doda, Dr. Mayan ud Din Gures established five Check posts/ Nakas along the migratory routes to provide first aid to the migratory animals and to ensure proper tagging of all migratory cattle to check the illegal trafficking of cattle in the district.

The check posts have been established at Trunkal Bridge Assar, Khellani Check Post, Bhagwah, Thathri, and at Basti Bhaderwah.

Sufficient staffs from the department have been deployed at each naka on rotational basis to provide first aid to the migratory cattle and also to tag all cattle keeping record of the migratory population, said CAHO Doda while apprising about these check posts.

In order to reach out to the nomadic tribes residing in high altitude meadows having no access to the medicare facilities, the health department also organized a series of health awareness and medical check up camps in the higher reaches of the District today.

The camps were held under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer Doda Dr Ab Hamid Zargar and guidance of respective BMOs.

CMO Doda Dr Zargar informed that on the directions of worthy DC Doda, we have organized special health screening/checkup camps for the nomadic population living in high altitudes meadows and are struggling with their health issues while they are staying in the upper reaches with no access to health care.

During the camps, free medicines were also distributed among them by the health teams.

Meanwhile the nomadic community people, appreciated the efforts of District Administration and Health Department, for such a people friendly health initiative. However, the DC has asked the health department for conducting such health camps regularly in different areas to provide healthcare at the doorstep of the residents.
