Jammu, May 25: Commissioner Secretary Science and Technology department Saurabh Bhagat today gave a presentation to 167 probationers of JKAS, JKPS and account services in Jammu and Kashmir Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPARD) today.
Among these probationers were seven candidates who recently cleared Union Public Service Commissioner (UPSC) exams.
Talking to JK News Today, Saurabh Bhagat said that training is an important aspect in every sphere of life and when these probationers reach here from colleges they don’t have any experience of governance. “Before being posted, they have to be taught about the rules and the regulations of that particular sector, government schemes, what the priorities of the government are, how to deal with public, how to deal with media, how to handle crisis situation and how to handle law and order,” he said.
“Thus I today gave a presentation to these probationers on good governance, best practices and innovations in government. They were taught about contemporary things in governance like G-20, e-governance, revenue administration, financial administration, legal provisions and other challenges,” the commissioner secretary said.
Bhagat has also served as Director General IMPARD in the past and at present he is looking after renewable energy and science and technology departments of J&K government.
He said that JKAS is an elite service of this union territory and future of these probationers depend on the training. “There are two parts of training, first is theoretical and my presentation was part of this training and second is practical when these officers are given charge of different government positions for few months,” he added.
