Jammu, February 4: The Mehbooba Mufti government is not in favour of holding the Panchayat polls any time soon as it is afraid of facing the rural electorate in the “ disturbed” situation in parts of Kashmir .
All Parties meeting held here on Sunday could not evolve a consensus on the issue because of the division of their views on the regional lines . PDP, which is ruling Jammu and Kashmir in alliance with BJP , also aired the view that the situation in the Valley was not conducive for polls .It was an echo of what the National; Conference said in its presentation at the All Parties meet in Jammu on Sunday.
BJP maintained that the elections should be held as these were already over due . The elections were to be held in 2016 , the state unit president of the party Sat Sharma told the meeting , which was chaired by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.
Congress, Panthers Party also held the same view .
