Srinagar, 16 Jun: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah Tuesday welcomed the announcement that the United States and Islamic republic of Iran have agreed to a peace arrangement providing for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and a framework for continued dialogue and negotiations.

Dr. Farooq described the development as a significant and encouraging step towards the peaceful resolution of the conflict, expressing hope that it will help ease tensions and contribute to stability in the wider region.

He expressed hope that both countries will build upon this positive momentum and engage constructively in sustained diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace.

He stressed that meaningful dialogue remains the most effective path to resolving differences and preventing further human suffering, urging all parties to build upon the current momentum in the interest of lasting peace.
