Jammu, August 3: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Monday chaired a high-level provincial meeting in Jammu, where senior leaders and party functionaries from across the region deliberated on the prevailing political situation, public grievances, governance issues and some important organisational matters.

According to a press release issued by the party here, the participants briefed the party president on the prevailing political situation, pressing public issues, and public grievances. They also apprised him of the government’s failure to address these issues. They also thoroughly discussed important party matters and took several decisions on this occasion.

In his address, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari urged that party leaders and senior workers to intensify their political and public outreach activities in their respective areas and ensure they are closely in touch with the people.

Reiterating Apni Party’s demand, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari called upon the Government of India to initiate a meaningful dialogue with the people of Jammu and Kashmir to address their genuine issues and aspirations.

He said that the “Hon’ble Prime Minister is himself committed to bridging the distance between the hearts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country.” He said that “this is the right time to initiate dialogue with the people to bridge the trust deficit and address their issues and concerns.”

Taking a swipe at the J&K government, Apni Party president alleged that it had failed to live up to the expectations of the people despite receiving a strong public mandate.

“The government has dishonoured the massive public mandate it received by ignoring pressing public issues and grievances,” he said. He further stated that people had voted with the expectation that the ruling dispensation would resolve their day-to-day problems and fulfil the promises made during the election campaign.
