Demands action to create employment opportunities, end random arrests, strengthen security, address development deficits, and other pressing issues

Srinagar, July 31: Accusing the government of failing to address pressing public issues and grievances, Apni Party on Saturday staged protest demonstrations in Srinagar’s press colony. Party’s Provincial President for Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, led the protest demonstration by the party leaders and workers against the government’s failures in Jammu and Kashmir. The protesters raised slogans condemning the government’s failure to create employment opportunities for educated youth, end random arrests, address development deficits, and resolve other pressing public issues and grievances.
After the vibrant protest demonstrations, Mohammad Ashraf Mir spoke to reporters and said that the government had failed on every front to deliver effective governance.
He said, “People gave a massive mandate to the ruling party in the hope that it would fulfil the promises it made during its 2024 election campaign. However, the reality is that the government has failed to deliver on those promises and has even been unable to provide basic necessities to the people.”
He further said, “What has this government done to create employment opportunities for our educated youth, who are currently grappling with the challenges of unemployment? Unemployment is one of the major factors contributing to the growing drug menace in our society. The ruling party had promised that it would provide one lakh jobs to the youth soon after assuming power in Jammu and Kashmir. Where are those jobs?”
Mir also accused the government of failing to bridge the developmental deficit in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the entire development process has come to a halt and alleged that the government is least bothered about the situation.
He expressed grave concern over the killing of two migrant labourers in Kulgam on Friday evening.
He said, “A few days ago, a policeman was killed in Anantnag, and now two innocent people, who had come here only to earn their livelihood, have been brutally killed. This is a deeply painful situation.”
He also urged the government to play its role in putting an end to the alleged arbitrary arrests of youth in various parts of Kashmir.
