Udhampur, 07 August 2026: Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir, today visited the Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Udhampur of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and reviewed the status and progress of ongoing National Highway projects in the region.

During the review, the Hon’ble Chief Minister was apprised of the progress of various ongoing works, with particular focus on the Ramban–Banihal stretch of NH-44, keeping in view the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) and the upcoming fruit season, when smooth and uninterrupted movement along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway assumes critical importance.

The current status of works, traffic management measures and preparedness for maintaining smooth traffic movement along NH-44 were discussed. The Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasised ensuring safe and seamless movement of commuters and transportation of essential commodities and fruit produce during the forthcoming season.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister appreciated the efforts of Team NHAI and encouraged the officers to maintain the momentum towards timely completion of ongoing works and further improvement of National Highway connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir.

Sh. Dheeraj Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary to the Hon’ble Chief Minister; Sh. R. S. Yadav, Regional Officer, NHAI Jammu; Sh. Ish Gupta, Project Director, PIU Udhampur; and Sh. Shubham Yadav, Project Director, PIU Ramban, were present during the review.
