Ahemdabad, 9 August 2026: The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department wrapped up a successful three-day run at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) Ahmedabad, drawing steady interest from trade visitors and the public throughout the event.
In a proud moment, J&K was conferred the Best Adventure Tourism Destination Award, underlining its rising stature as one of the country’s most sought-after hubs for adventure travel. Rather than limiting its pitch to postcard imagery of mountains and lakes, the delegation presented the Union Territory as a living destination: built around local traditions, food, hospitality and everyday mountain life.
Officials at the stall urged travellers from Gujarat and beyond to step outside the usual tourist circuit and immerse themselves in what the Himalayas actually offer, from meeting local communities to picking up regional customs firsthand.
The stall highlighted a broad mix of activities: skiing, paragliding, mountaineering, river rafting and trekking sat alongside heritage walks, homestays and rural tourism circuits, aimed at younger travellers chasing something more immersive than a typical holiday.
Officials also flagged homestays and community driven tourism as a growing avenue for local income, giving visitors a genuine window into Kashmiri and Jammu life while supporting families on the ground.
TTF Ahmedabad, which drew tourism boards, operators and hospitality players from India and abroad, gave the department a valuable opening to deepen ties with Gujarat’s travel trade. Riding on the fresh award, officials said outreach efforts would continue, with one representative summing up the pitch: the Himalayas are best understood not from a distance, but up close.
