Srinagar, February 16: A large delegation comprised of residents, traders, and prominent workers from the Apni Party in Srinagar’s Chanapora constituency called on the party president, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Friday. They aimed to apprise him about a range of issues and grievances that the residents of various areas in the constituency are facing.

According to a press release, the delegation, comprised of residents and traders, was accompanied by prominent party workers from the Chanapora constituency.

“The delegation members informed Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari that the bottleneck road at the Rambagh Chowk causes frequent traffic jams and invalidates the use of the Jahangir Chowk-Rambagh Flyover. They stated that they have been demanding the removal of the road divider near Natipora, which would eventually create more space for traffic to move comfortably,” the statement reads.

Furthermore, the delegation members highlighted the government’s acquisition of land for the proposed Cluster University at Naik Bagh Nowgam, which is a commendable initiative. However, they said that this land was previously used by the young population of the area for playing cricket. Consequently, the delegation has requested the government to designate a 200-kanal piece of unused land for the establishment of a new playground in the vicinity.

The residents complained about the scarcity of medical staff, machinery and infrastructure at the Sub District Hospital located in Chanapora and said that if this hospital is equipped well, it can cater a large number of patients from the area and adjoining locations, which will eventually ease the burden on the SMHS hospital. They also demanded that public parks, now under the maintenance of SMC Srinagar, should be maintained well so that local residents can use them.

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari gave a patient hearing to the delegation members and assured them that he would take up these matters with the concerned authorities to ensure that the public demands are addressed in order to resolve these issues.

“I assure you that I will take up the issue of road narrowing caused by the divider near Rambagh with the Chief Engineer R&B, to ensure this issue is resolved. As for the land for the playground, this matter will be brought to the attention of the district administration with a request to allocate the said land for establishing a playground for the youth. The issue of hospitals and parks would also be taken up with the relevant authorities for quick redressal,” he assured the delegation.

Meanwhile, on this occasion, the party workers brought some party affairs to the notice of the president and shared their feedback from the grassroots levels, along with their views on how to strength
