Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan during his visit to Leh today called on Divisional Commissioner Ladakh Saugat Biswas here.

 During the interaction, discussions were held on various subjects ranging from film shooting in Leh and Kargil districts with proactive involvement of locals and water conservation measures.

Giving details about the extensive work being carried out in the field of watershed management by his NGO Paani Foundation, Khan said NGO has already covered 75 talukas in Maharashtra and has involved over 4000 villages of the State in watershed management. They have also instituted Satyamev Jayate Water Cup, which is awarded every year to the best performing village in the field of watershed management.

Subsequently, it was decided that a team of officers and elected representatives from Ladakh will be sent to Maharashtra to attend workshops with the Paani Foundation and study the ground level implementations of the successful voluntary civic action programme.

With regard to involvement of locals in Bollywood industry, Div Com urged Khan to explore possibilities of shooting his upcoming films in the picturesque locales of both the districts of Ladakh.

Aamir Khan revealed that his production team is planning film shooting in the region in the coming year in which various stakeholders from the region will be involved.

Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh and Executive Councillor Tourism Tsering Sandup was also present during the interaction.
