Asks officers to be accessible to the public

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K, Baseer  Ahmad Khan to chaired a high level meeting of officers regarding the various issues brought into his notice by various delegations of trade unions at SKICC, Srinagar.

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole, Deputy commissioner,  Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary, Srinagar, CEO ERA, Syed Abid Rashid,  SP traffic, SMC Commissioner,  Chief Engineer jkpdcl, MD JKPCC, other officers and representatives of Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation.

Regarding the issues faced by transporters at Parimpora bus stand, Advisor instructed DIV Com and DC Srinagar to visit the place and take the cognizance of issues faced by transporters due to the bad condition of roads, lack electricity, accommodation etc besides asking  them to resolve the problem at earnest.

While taking the note of complaints of unscheduled power cuts, Advisor directed CE, JKPDCL to issue the schedule for each district of kashmir division by tomorrow and intimate public regarding any change of time or repairing issue in advance. He instructed Chief engineer to respond any issue regarding damage to transmission lines and transformers in minimum time.

Meanwhile, he also reviewed the disaster preparedness of the Disaster Management Department. He was informed that the Department is ready to overcome  any exigency besides he was informed  that all the dewatering pumps are upgraded and functional to tackle the problem of water logging during rain and  snow fall.

Regarding the recurring traffic jams and increase in transport in Srinagar city, Advisor instructed SP traffic to chart a comprehensive strategy for traffic management and identify the locations for car parking besides deployment of adequate personnel to manage the movement of vehicles. 

Moreover, Advisor asked officers to be accessible to the public and adopt a public friendly approach and transparenty while discharging their  duties.

On the occasion, Baseer khan told KTMF representatives that he has taken the issue of work on National Highway with the  central government and assured that the pace of work on the project would be enhanced to complete it as soon as possible.

Advisor also ordered Div to look into the complaints of sky-rocketing prices of construction material and instructed him to keep check on the prices so general public does not suffer.

He also deliberate with the officers regarding  the various issues confronted by the downtown area of Srinagar.
