REASI, JANUARY 13, 2023: Apni Party Vice President, and Former Minister, Aijaz Ahmed Khan has appealed to the Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah to intervene in the J&K Govt’s direction to retrieve state land from the people.

According to the statement, Aijaz Ahmed Khan said that the people who have residential houses and small plots for residential purposes and agricultural state land should not be displaced or their land should not be taken by the Govt.

“The marginalized people and those with poor financial backgrounds are dependent upon the State land and their livelihood is completely dependent on the land under their occupation for decades,” he said.

He said that “If the retrieval of state land from the farmers, and the poor section of society who have their residences on the state land is not stopped, it will create crises in J&K.”

Similarly, he said that the retrieval of the agricultural land from the farmers will create food deficiency in J&K.

“The farmers, their cattles and the marginalized section of people are dependent on the land and hence, the decision of J&K Govt should be reviewed under humanitarian grounds,” he added.

He said with the retrieval of the state land, hundreds of people will suddenly become homeless and landless and it would further aggravate the situation in J&K.

As the result of the retrieval of the land would have desastrious effect in J&K and on the marginalized section of society, he demanded immediate intervention of Union Home Minister, Amit Shah who is on visit to Jammu, and Rajouri Districts.

“The Govt should categorise the land i.e., agricultural, small residential houses of marginalized sections of society and commercial land. The state land having small houses and agricultural-able land should be regularized whereas the Govt can see commercial land as per their own wish,” he said.

He further said that, “However, the state land which is out of municipal limits should not be treated in this manner and the harsh manner will further create feelings of isolation among the people.”

In this view, he said that the Govt should regularize the small houses of marginalized sections of society and in favour of the farmers in J&K.
