Bijbehara, March 22: This must be a thing to remember for the lifetime for mother delivering a baby inside operation theatre with the help of doctors as earth was shaking beneath due to strong tremors.

Husband of the lady and other relatives outside the operation were in dilemma whether to run for the safety or wait for the good from inside.

This was the situation inside subdistrict hospital in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district where Dr Shabeena Shah, a gynecologist, held her ground despite the fact that all other staff of the hospital were running for safety outside the hospital when 6.6 magnitude earthquake shook the entire region with epicenter at Jurm area of Afghanistan. Besides, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and other north western areas felt strong tremors.

A video of the hospital’s operation theatre, where doctors were seen performing surgery during strong tremors, also went viral on social media with netizens praising the team of doctors and paramedical staff.

In the video, theatre monitor could be seen shaking and lights were also disrupted, however, doctors continue to perform surgery despite strong tremors.

Dr Shabeena Shah said that the woman was the third patient on Tuesday evening whose surgery was being conducted.

She said that it is necessary to show maturity during panic situation which they did and everything went smoothly.

“Earlier, we too feared for our safety because we too are human beings, but then we realized that patient should be our priority under all circumstances. We remained focussed and successfully completed the surgery,” she said.

This became the talk of the town as everybody praised the doctor and other staff for the commitment shown during emergency situation.
