Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced on Sunday morning that all schools in Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed till next Sunday- April 18- in view of the continuing spike in the Covid-19 cases reported from across the Union Territory.


It was in continuation of his announcement of last Sunday ( April 4) when he had announced the closure of all schools running classes up to 9th to remain shut till April 18, while the schools holding classes 10,11,12 were to remain closed till this Sunday. Now these schools too have been included in the category of the institutes that will remain shut till April 18.


Manoj Sinha tweeted on Sunday morning : “ In view of the continuing spike in the reported cases of infection , all schools of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir shall continue to remain closed for imparting on-campus/in-person education to the students of all classes ( i.e. up to and including class 12 ), till 18/o4/2021.”


This decision has been widely held as yesterday ( Saturday), the J&K reported 1005 cases , and six deaths , the highest reported cases of the year 2021.
