Srinagar, April 16: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari expressed grief over the boat tragedy on Jhelum river on early Tuesday morning and described it heart-breaking .
At least 20 school children and others were on board when a boat capsized in Jhelum river early Tuesday morning . Though rescue operations were on, yet the exact details were yet to emerge which has caused wide-spread concerns across Valley .
Sharing his thoughts and pain of the near and dear ones of the children and other persons involved , Altaf Bukhari wrote on X, formerly Twitter : “ Devastated to hear of the tragic capsizing of a boat carrying several persons, including children, in the River Jhelum near Batwara, Srinagar.”
“ The loss of precious lives is heart-breaking. My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this terrible accident. Urging the administration to swiftly extend support to those in need..”
Meanwhile Apni Party’s Srinagar candidate for Lok Sabha polls Ashraf Mir has reached spot since early morning , along with young volunteers of the party , to join the rescue operation . The party workers are helping the officials in deep waters of river Jhelum in rescue operations .
It’s a tragedy that a bridge is under construction at this spot for the past 20 years, reflecting casualness of the government toward the much-needed bridge .
