Solan, August 03, 2024: Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College and Hospital (MMMCH), solan today organised a day long Continuing Medical Education (CME) by its Community Medicine department, which was a grand success.
MMMCH under the able and worthy guidance and always forthcoming encouragement of its Chairman Shri Tarsem Garg and Dr Vishal Garg Secretary & Treasurer MMDU and Dr. Meenakshi Garg, Trustee, organised this CME.
The theme of the CME was “One Health” meaning that human health and animal health are interdependent and at the same time both depend on the environment. It is most apt theme given the present day scenario.
Top six doctors of North India spoke at the CME on most relevant and felicitous topic. The speakers — Dr Sunil Raina, Professor and HOD Community Medicine RPGMC, Tanda (Kangra) spoke on “One Health- Do current concepts suffer from Physics Envy.” Dr Raina is well known personality in Community Medicine in country.
Dr Suneela Garg, Chair Programme Advisory committee NIHFW, Professor of Excellence spoke on “One Health & System Strengthening”. Dr Garg is iconic figure of the field.
The speakers list included Dr Ashok Bhardwaj, Professor Emeritus MMMCH Solan, also Chairman National Task Force on NTEP, spoke on “Prevention of Tuberculosis : One Health Perspective”.
Dr Kanica Kaushal, Assistant Professor Clinical Research and Epidemiology, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi, spoke om “Implementation of Integration of NAFLD & NP NCD Programs–Examples from three States.”
Dr Meenu Kalia, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Medicine, GMCH Sector 32, Chandigarh, spoke on “Introduction to One Health.”
The hand holding and advisement for the event was by mentors like Prof (Dr.) SS Minhas, Vice Chancellor, MMU Solan, Sh Ajay Singal, Regustrar of MMU Solan, Dr RC Sharma, Principal MMMCH, Solan and Dr JS Sandhu, Vice-Principal MMMCH Solan, Dr Manpreet Singh Nanda, Medical Superintendent of MMMCH, who played vital role in boosting outreach programmes.
The CME was organised by tireless effort of weeks by Dr. Harshdeep Joshi, Professor and HOD Community Medicine, MMMCH Solan along with the very hardworking faculty of the department.
