American Oncology Institute at ASCOMS Hospital, Jammu celebrated National Cancer Survivors Day 2022 where more than 40 cancer survivors were felicitated and honoured by giving momentos and lucky bamboo plants. This day is
celebrated on 1st Sunday of the month June every year. The primary goal is to recognize the feelings
of Cancer Survivors and encourage them to interact with other cancer patients who are undergoing treatment to give them hope and encouragement that they can overcome the battle against cancer.
Mr. D K Batra (Secretary ASCOMS) was the chief guest on the occasion and Mr. Manik Batra, Mr.
Pavan Malhotra were the guest of honors. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Pavan Malhotra described
cancer as an epidemic with no protection from education and wealth. Socioeconomic barrier has no role to play as far as spread of disease is concerned. Applauding the role of Cancer Survivors he advised them to frequently interact with people undergoing treatment for moral boosting.
Speaking on the occasion Manik Batra informed the gathering that setting up of comprehensive
world class cancer centre was dream of late D V Batra and the dream was fulfilled in 2018 when
American Oncology Institute had set up comprehensive cancer centre. During the proceedings of the function the cancer survivors were felicitated by the chief guest and AOI consultants. Later on chief guest team from AOI Jammu also felicitated the medical professionals of AOI for their dedicated services in the field of Oncology. Dr. Vikas Roshan, Dr. Nadeem Shoket also encouraged the cancer patients and advised them not to consider cancer as end of life as this disease can be cured.
Dr. Mayank Puri (Facility Director AOI Jammu) presented vote of thanks and thanked the entire guests that had come at the occasion and also emphasized on the fact that awareness and early detection with proper treatment from specialist oncologist can help win the battle against cancer. Dr. Neeraj Bishnoi thanked the
management of ASCOMS for giving chance to AOI to establish centre in Jammu and also thanked the
public for their faith in AOI and also thanked print media for helping AOI in all spheres and said that AOI will keep on bringing in the latest technology and world-class cancer care to the people of Jammu region
