Jammu, February 22 : Apni Party senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir has asked the LG administration to desist from imposing property tax on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“ The government is well advised to leave such decisions to the people’s government- that is the duly elected government” Mir said while addressing a meeting of Apni Party leaders and workers in Jammu on Wednesday. The meeting deliberated on the LG government’s decision to impose property tax on the people in J&K without adopting consultative process.
Sharing anxiety of the masses across J&K, Mir said that the current administration has no mandate to take such decisions which have far reaching implications for the residents of J&K.
The meeting was attended by Vice President, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, State General Secretary, Vijay Bakaya, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh, all district presidents, and frontal heads.
Addressing the meeting, Ghulam Hassan Mir said that “The recent decision of the Govt to impose property tax in Jammu and Kashmir has attracted criticism from the people.”
“This decision should be left to the elected Govt in Jammu and Kashmir to decide in the interest of the people,” he added.
He further also demanded that assembly elections should be held to restore the democratic system as well as restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
This meeting also reviewed constituency wise working of Apni Party and its organizational structure.
The meeting also reviewed celebrations on the raising day of the Apni Party on March 8, 2023.
