Jammu, June 02:

The Army chief Gen MM Naravane is visiting Kashmir on two- day visit from Wednesday to review the current situation on borders, particularly along Line of Control , and internal security situation.

Gen. Naravane is also scheduled to visit forward areas along the LoC to reassess the impact of the reinstatement of ceasefire on the dividing line since February 25. So far, Pakistani army has not violated ceasefire since then, but the Indian army is on high alert as it is prepared to meet any situation.

On the internal situation, army has achieved remarkable success in counterterrorism operations and neutralised militant commanders, yet it is worried about the local recruitment. Its efforts to prevent the local youth from joining militancy has yielded results but it wants to keep them off militancy and mindset of guns forever.
