Induction Day 2020 was held in ASCOMS & Hospital for Newcomers admitted to pursue MBBS Course 2020. The celebrations were held in College Auditorium 11.01.2021. Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital was the Chief Guest. Induction Ceremony was marked by Hippocratic Oath and White Coat ceremony also in which the Hippocratic Oath of Secrecy and competence was administered to students by Dr. Vanita Gupta and Usha Gupta. Dr. Rajesh K. Gupta, Prof. & Head Orthopaedics and MEU Coordinator while welcoming the new students, apprised them of the new curriculum and advised them to adhere to the norms governing the implementation of curriculum as well as the examination. While addressed the students, he laid stress on clinical exposure and small group teaching as the key factor in the new changed curriculum. Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta, Prof & Head Paediatrics and Vice Chairman Students Welfare Activities while addressing the students informed them that in ASCOMS, apart from academics, participation in extra academic events will also be stressed upon. He apprised the students of various activities which are held in the institution throughout the year apart from academics.
Dr. Pavan Malhtora, Director Principal and Chief Guest on the occasion, while addressing the students explained to them about various difficulties which will be faced by them as a medical student and advised them to cope up with the difficulties without taking much stress on themselves. He stressed upon participation in extra academic activities in addition to academic activities would lead to development of overall personality of a student which happens to be an important aspect of training programme at ASCOMS. He also apprised the gathering that it has been 25 years that ASCOMS & Hospital has been imparting quality medical education to the MBBS students and also told them that the passed out students have become academicians, clinicians and administrators and are occupying important posts worldwide. He advised the students to preserve and practice the age old values like high standard of integrity, clear sense of duty, motto to serve humanity and knowing limitation of one’s competency and overall responsibility.
During the proceedings of the function, rich tributes were paid to two stalwarts who were instrumental in setting up of this institution, namely Late Dharam Vir Batra Ji, the President of ASCOMS & Hospital whose brainchild was the Project of ASCOMS & Hospital and Late H.L.Maini Ji, the Vice President of ASCOMS & Hospital. The gathering was informed that it was the vision of Late Dharam Vir Batra Ji that people fo Jammu has received such a beautiful gift and the same gift was brought into shape by the another visionary, i.e. Late H.L.Maini. Both the visionaries have put their blood and sweat for starting this Medical College and Hospital which is now providing quality medical care to the patients and medical education to the students.
