Srinagar, June 26: Apni Party Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir today chaired a meeting of party workers and activists in Srinagar’s Illahibagh area to discuss pressing public issues, governance, and organisational matters. The meeting was also attended by the party’s Youth Wing President, Yawar Dilawar Mir.
The meeting was held at the residence of Muddassir Bhat, District Vice President of the Youth Wing, and witnessed the participation of hundreds of party workers and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Mohammad Ashraf Mir and Yawar Mir criticised the government for what they described as its failure to address people’s problems and fulfil the promises made to the public.
They said the ruling National Conference (NC) had promised development, employment opportunities and better governance, but those commitments had largely remained unfulfilled, leaving people disappointed.
“The people were assured of progress and better governance, but those promises have not translated into reality,” they said, adding that the public has now started demanding accountability from those who sought votes in the name of public welfare.
The meeting also witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, many of whom voiced resentment over what they termed the National Conference’s “false promises” and “unfulfilled commitments.”
Several participants said they had lost faith in parties that failed to honour their assurances and expressed support for senior Apni Party leader Muddassir Bhat. They pledged to stand by him in his future political journey, saying they wanted leadership that remains accessible to the people and sincerely works to resolve their problems.
Speaking on the occasion, Muddassir Bhat thanked the participants for their overwhelming support and assured them that the Apni Party would continue to raise public issues and work for the welfare, development and better future of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting concluded with party leaders reaffirming their commitment to public service and calling for greater political accountability, responsive governance and people-centric development across the Union Territory.
The prominent who were present on the occasion included Provincial Secretary Mohammad Saleem Lone, Hazratbal constituency in-charge and Provincial Organising Secretary Yousuf Abdullah Sofi, Zone President (Rural), Hazratbal Constituency, Farooq Ahmad Magray, Zone President (Urban) Bilal Ahmad Bhat, besides several other party functionaries.
