Srinagar, June 26: BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur on today welcomed the establishment of the National Centre for Excellence in Awantipora, describing it as a landmark achievement for Jammu & Kashmir and a major step toward educational and technological transformation in the region.
In a statement, Thakur expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for sanctioning the prestigious centre for Awantipora, saying the decision reflects the Central Government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the youth of Jammu & Kashmir through modern education, innovation and skill development.
Thakur said a National Centre for Excellence is not merely an institution, but a hub of advanced learning, research, innovation and professional training where talent is nurtured and future leaders are shaped. He said the establishment of such a centre in Awantipora will open new doors of opportunity for students, researchers and aspiring professionals across the Union Territory.
“This is a historic moment for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. The Centre for Excellence will help create a strong ecosystem of education, research and innovation in the region. It will provide our youth with access to high-quality training and world-class facilities closer to home,” Thakur said.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented development in infrastructure, education, healthcare and connectivity, and the new centre is another major addition to that transformative journey.
Thakur also appreciated the efforts of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for their continuous focus on youth-centric policies and institutional growth in Jammu & Kashmir.
“The vision of a progressive, educated and self-reliant Jammu & Kashmir is steadily becoming a reality. This Centre for Excellence will not only strengthen academic and research capabilities but also generate employment opportunities and inspire innovation among the younger generation,” he added.
Thakur said the people of Awantipora and adjoining areas see the project as a symbol of hope, progress and a brighter future for the coming generations.
