ASI posted at Budhal PS booked, detained in a rape case.
An Assistant Sub Inspector, (ASI) posted at Budhal police station in Rajouri district has been booked and reportedly arrested for raping a married woman in Budhal town.
Prominent people of the town while confirming the incident reportedly have claimed that the officer was exploiting the woman as he was the inquiry officer (IO) in a complaint lodged by the woman against the youth of Poonch district for harassing her.
Sources said the ASI has been booked under sections 376 & 452 IPC (FIR No.72) and was reportedly detained.
On the complaint of the woman, the police have registered a case against the ASI. The police have started further investigation in this matter.
The husband of the victim, a mother of a son, is presently working in Kuwait and presently living with in-laws at Budhal town.
It was not clear whether the medical examination of the victim has been conducted today or not.
Chandan Kohli, SSP when contacted said: “On the complaint of the victim, the officer has been booked and the police will investigate the crime in a professional manner”.
It is too early to share more details as the case is in an initial stage, SSP added and assure to share the details after a detailed investigation.
