Taking cognisance of the sale of the illicit cigarettes in Srinagar , the authorities of food security have conducted raids at several places.
Raids were led by Hilal Assistant Commissioner of Foid Security of J&K government.
The illicit cigarettes were seized and the sellers booked under COPTA.
Of late many unscrupulous elements had started sale of illicit cigarettes of several foreign brands by hiding the statutory warning.
In fact, some of the distributors had put up banners as part of the campaign to prop mote sale of such cigarettes. The banners showed the bright side of cigarettes and handsome models holding cigarettes in their lips.
The UT administration has taken a very serious note of it and ordered strict action against such elements.
